SOUTHEASTERN coaxed from the gate, emerged to duel from the two path with GRUMBLYRUMHOGAN to his outside, came under encouragement at the three-eighths marker, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, was in the midst of shaking off his main pace rival when that foe came inwards under a left handed crop, got bumped in the hind end and knocked off stride and askew before going clear under a drive to prevail. GRUMBLYRUMHOGAN taken in hand briefly at the start, ranged up to engage the aforementioned foe in head to head combat with six and a half furlongs remaining, dueled from the three path coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, spun three wide into upper stretch, came under a left handed crop and came inwards bumping SOUTHEASTERN off stride and askew straightened away while beginning to be shaken off by that rival, dug in under a drive proving no match in the stretch for that one while holding clear for the place honors. FIRST BLESSING led early on, chased three then four wide under a ride from the seven-sixteenths pole, tipped five wide into upper stretch, weakened in the late stages while along for the show honors. TIGER ROCKET chased two then three wide under urging from three furlongs out, angled six to seven wide into upper stretch, weakened. STATE OF ATTACK coaxed from the start, chased along the inside briefly before tipping out to be just off the inside with six and a half furlongs to go, tucked inside at the half mile pole placed to urging, took the inside route through the turn and into the top of the lane and tired in the stretch.
