AWESOME EMPIRE was hustled from the gate then taken in hand early, raced a bit off the inside while rated just off the pace, drafted in the two path early on the turn, gained to make a bid inside the three-eighths pole, took over while set down in the stretch, fought outside of the runner-up until near the furlong marker then drew clear under strong urging. COCKTAILSNKRINGLE was hustled to the front then showed the way, vied inside on the turn, was asked under threat outside the five-sixteenths pole, lost the advantage to the winner into the stretch, battled with that foe until near the furlong marker and proved no match while able to hold the place. EXPLORATION settled off the pace, was roused in the three then four path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the five path and finished willingly for the show. BRAVE BLEND was hustled from the gate, prompted the pace on the outside of the leader, was asked in the three path on the turn, dropped back in the four path into the stretch and came up empty. GOLDEN PLATE was reserved at the rear of the field, saved ground while roused on the turn, moved to the two path outside the quarter-pole then came into the stretch in the three path and lacked the needed response. MILITARY ROAD was urged early then settled on the outside, came back under urging near the half-mile pole, went around the turn in the four path and capitulated.
