AMERICA'S HONOR brushed with a rival at the start then was hustled, chased the pace on the outside of the leader, made a bid in the three path midway through the turn, took the advantage outside the furlong marker, shook clear under the crop outside the sixteenth-pole then drew away while placed under a hand-ride from that point to the finish. SMOKEY PLACES was reluctant to load, brushed with a rival while breaking in front, was hustled clear then taken under a strong hold before being let out near the five-eighths pole, vied inside on the turn, was asked under threat with three furlongs to run, lost the advantage to the winner outside the furlong marker and proved no match while just able to get the place. NICO'S DERBY RUN broke in and bumped with a rival, settled at the rear, dropped back leaving the backstretch, was roused while moving from the three path to the five path on the turn, drifted in some under two pops of a right-handed crop while still on his inside lead in upper stretch, swapped to the proper lead nearing the furlong marker and just missed the place while clear for the show. BRODERICK settled on the outside, was roused in the four path on the turn, remained on his inside lead in upper stretch and failed to respond. LAIRD OF MAGNOLIA was bumped at the start, moved up under urging with five furlongs to run, chased in the two path while hard ridden on the turn and came up empty.
