FEVER NIGHT got brushed at the start by NANTZ, who broke inwards, dueled from the two path with that rival to his outside, briefly shook off that foe near the half mile pole before being engaged once more through the turn, came under coaxing near the quarter pole and took the inside route into upper stretch, went clear under a drive and was geared down in the late stages. SUPERPOWER traded a bump with MESSI THE MAGICIAN at the start, chased five wide under urging from the three-eighths pole, tipped six wide into upper stretch, proved no match for the top one while along for the place honors. NANTZ broke in at the start brushing FEVER NIGHT, dueled three then four paths off the inside with FEVER NIGHT to his inside, came under urging at the five-sixteenths marker, continued three to four wide for home, weakened in the stretch. TAPARINO chased three to four paths off the rail down the backstretch before tucking to the two path through the turn coming under encouragement with seven-sixteenths to go, spun two to three wide into upper stretch and tired. GRAND COMMANDER chased six then five wide under a ride from the seven-sixteenths pole, tipped seven wide at the head of the stretch, tired. MESSI THE MAGICIAN traded a bump at the break with SUPERPOWER, chased just off the inside and then along the inside under urging from the seven-sixteenths marker, continued in the inside route into upper stretch, gave way, and was eased home to the finish.
