Footnotes
CASTLE ISLAND was hustled from the gate, angled in while going to the front then showed the way, extended the advantage while inside to the two path on the turn, was given his cue outside the quarter-pole, responded well when put to a right-handed crop in upper stretch, remained under the crop until outside the sixteenth-pole then was placed under a strong hand-ride to the finish while much the best. NARCISO DALI was hustled from the gate, raced just off the early pace, climbed badly into kickback entering the main-track, was urged along passing the five-eighths pole, passed foes in the four path on the turn, was driven into upper stretch in the five path and held the place while no match for the winner. PRINCE OF CHILL stood in the gate at the start then came inward while off very slow, spotted the front many lengths, was urged along at the rear, moved out of last before the five-eighths pole, went around the turn in the two path, turned into the stretch in the three path and improved to get the show. STJAMES dropped back under urging while showing no speed, fell to the rear before the five-eighths pole, saved ground on the turn and was no factor. O P FIRECRACKER was hustled from the gate then urged along in third position, went around the turn in the two path and faltered. COLLECT FROM IKE tracked the pace on the outside, was asked outside the seven-sixteenths pole, dropped back in the three path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the four path and capitulated.
