Footnotes
GOOD SKATE was hustled to the front then showed the way with a clear advantage, raced in the two path early on the turn, was asked nearing the three-eighths pole then taken in hand briefly when the loose horse went by on his outside, dropped to the rail in the process, shifted to the three path outside the quarter-pole, lost the advantage to the runner-up in upper stretch, moved in while fighting back gamely in the final furlong, regained the advantage inside the sixteenth-pole and prevailed under steady urging. DR. KRAFT settled off the pace, moved from the rail to the two path while in good striking position on the turn, shifted to the four path outside the quarter-pole, gained between foes into the stretch, took a short lead near the three-sixteenths pole, led under a drive into the final sixteenth but was caught and missed while clear for the place. PRAETORIAN GUARD was well placed just off the pace, shifted out with five furlongs to run, was urged along late on the backstretch, chased in the three then four path on the turn, moved to the five path outside the quarter-pole, pursued the top two while outside in the drive and weakened but held the show. BOLD VICTORY was coaxed along at the rear on the outside, moved in near the nine-sixteenths pole, was urged along in the two then three path on the turn, moved to the four path outside the quarter-pole, turned into the stretch in the five path and lacked the needed response. CLEVER FOREVER was fractious in the gate then bobbled at the start, tracked the pace on the outside, was taken in hand while dropping back near the seven-sixteenths pole, fell to the rear in the four to five path on the turn and faltered then was eased in the final furlong but walked off. CERTIFIED LOVERBOY stumbled badly at the start and unseated the rider then was walked off after being apprehended on the gallop out.
