Footnotes
SANZIO settled under some urging, moved in near the nine-sixteenths pole, was roused in the two path on the turn, moved to the three then four path late on that bend, turned into the stretch in the five path, rallied into the final furlong, gained into the final sixteenth and closed strongly to get up late and prevail. MOZAMBIQUE was urged along off the pace, angled in near the five-eighths pole, rounded most of the turn in the two then three path, shifted to the four then five path late on that bend, spun into the stretch in the six path, rallied outside into the final furlong, closed well into the final sixteenth and missed while just up for the place. FIREBALLIN broke out and bumped with a foe, moved up to get the lead then showed the way, went around most of the turn in the two path then dropped to the rail, was asked near the quarter-pole then came under a drive in upper stretch, led until the final four strides but was caught and just missed the place while clear for the show. LIBERTY RISING was well placed just off the pace, chased inside on the turn, moved to the two path outside the quarter-pole, remained on his inside lead in the drive, kept on into the final sixteenth and finished willingly for the last spot in the superfecta. FIRST PITCH was bumped at the start then squeezed back between horses, angled in at the rear, moved from the rail to the four path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the five path and failed to threaten. DUCKY MEDWICK bumped with a rival at the start, tracked the pace down the backstretch, chased in the three path on the turn and came up empty. SPLITTING STONES was urged along off the pace, went around most of the turn in the three to four path, moved to the five path briefly late on that bend before dropping back to the four path, lugged inward in the stretch and failed to respond. CALLING CARD broke out and bumped with a foe, dropped back early, was urged along passing the five-eighths pole, saved ground on the turn and was no factor. SIR KARTRITE was forwardly placed on the outside, chased in the four path on the turn and capitulated.
