Footnotes
APALTA broke just a half-step slowly, settled off the pace outside, raced three to four wide, was encouraged by the five-sixteenths, swung into upper stretch four wide making a bid near the three-sixteenths, lugged in a bit soon after but straightened out and drew clear. EGYPTIAN settled in behind from just off the fence under light rating tactics, drew nearer on the far turn still removed from the fence, waited briefly in behind foes near the quarter pole, shifted in to cut the corner, made a mild bid up the rail near the three-sixteenths and loomed a threat but was no match for the winner while finishing well enough to secure the place. MCDIESEL broke sharply and went straight to the fore, set the pace inside just off the rail shadowed by an outside foe, was niggled along past the seven-sixteenths, challenged by foes inside and out coming to the three-sixteenths, fought on but lacked the needed late kick. AMBRIDGE shadowed the pacesetter racing mostly three wide, was asked for more about three furlongs out, dropped back turning into upper stretch, switched out and continued to weaken. CARLIN CONTENTION lacked early speed dropping well back, came out turning for home, was not a factor.
