GULFY showed speed under coaxing, took the lead on the inside of a rival while five furlongs to run, vied inside on the turn, was asked inside the three-eighths pole, lost the lead narrowly at the quarter-pole, spun into the stretch in the two path while put to a left-handed crop, dueled inside of the runner-up, drifted out near the furlong marker, continued to duel with the runner-up while jostling with that foe and gamely prevailed under strong urging. BOLD LOVE was rated in a good position down the backstretch, shifted from the two path to the three path early on the turn, ranged up to make a bid outside the five-sixteenths pole, took the lead while roused at the quarter-pole then spun into the stretch in the four path, dueled outside of the winner while further out in the track, jostled with that foe in the final furlong and was denied while well clear for the place. SOUTHEASTERN showed speed and led early, lost the lead near the five-eighths pole, pressed the pace on the outside, chased in the three then two path on the turn and weakened while clear for the show. ANYWAY settled at the rear, moved out outside the five-eighths pole, was urged along late on the backstretch then dropped in, raced inside to the two path on the turn and came up empty. HONG KONG PHOOEY was taken under a tight hold early then tracked the pace on the outside, came under urging late on the backstretch, dropped back in the four then three path on the turn and faltered then was distanced in the final furlong. TOP PLAYER stumbled badly at the start and unseated the rider then was walked off after being apprehended by an outrider.
