Footnotes
MILITARY ROAD came away in good order, rounded the first turn in the three path, tracked the pace down the backstretch, was asked near the half-mile pole, made a bid in the three path on the far turn then took the lead outside the five-sixteenths pole, dropped to the two path while going clear outside the quarter-pole, drew off under a left-handed crop into the final furlong, was switched to a right-handed crop and given one pop outside the sixteenth-pole and widened under a strong hand-ride to the finish. FIRST TRUMPET reared badly at the start and was off very slow, spotted the other two contestants around five lengths, rushed up then angled out into the first turn, swept to the front in the five path on that bend then went clear, was asked in the two path early on the far turn then vied under strong urging, lost touch with the winner coming to the quarter-pole, kept on while dueling with KISMEHOLDMETHRIME for second position in the stretch and narrowly earned that position. KISMEHOLDMETHRLME went to the front then came out, led in the three then two path early on the first turn then was passed by the runner-up, tracked that foe down the backstretch, came under urging with a half-mile to run, made a bid at the seven-sixteenths pole, vied inside under urging on the far turn, lost touch with the winner late on that bend, spun into the stretch in the two path, dueled inside of the runner-up for that position in the stretch and missed second money.
