REGISTER tracked the pace on the outside, dropped from the three path to the two path early on the turn, was asked later on that bend, gained to make a bid near the quarter-pole, took the lead in upper stretch, battled outside of the runner-up under a drive in the final furlong and proved best under strong handling. QUIET WISDOM showed speed on the outside of a rival then set the pace, was asked while inside on the turn, lost the advantage to the winner under a drive in upper stretch, fought with that foe in the final furlong and was outfinished while able to hold the place. MALDINI settled on the outside, gained under urging in the three to four path on the turn, chased in the five path into the stretch, pursued the top two in the drive and lacked the needed kick but willingly earned the show. GUNNER BAY showed speed on the inside of a foe, dropped just off the pace with five furlongs to run, chased inside on the turn, spun into upper stretch off the inside then moved further out, remained on his inside lead in the drive and weakened. PRINCIP settled off the pace, was urged along passing the nine-sixteenths pole, shifted from the rail to the two path under stronger encouragement on the turn, moved out in upper stretch and lacked the needed response. SHIPSATIONAL dropped well behind under urging then angled in inside the three-quarter pole, saved ground on the turn and was no factor. WAKE SURF settled under some urging, went around the turn in the two then three path while asked for more and failed to respond.
