SCULCOS FOLLY led early on six to seven paths off the rail down the backstretch, got displaced from command near the five furlong marker and remained in closest aim of ILLMATIC, advanced on that rival tucked three wide through the turn getting on near even terms with five-sixteenths to go before taking over the front once more spinning two to three wide set down into upper stretch, then went clear under a drive to prevail. ILLMATIC coaxed from the gate, raced three paths off the rail in closest aim of the leader before advancing to take over near the five furlong marker, tucked to the two path with nine-sixteenths to go and remained just off the inside through the turn coming under intensified pressure from the top one from the three-eighths pole to the quarter pole, yielded the front and took the inside route into upper stretch, tipped out two paths inside the three-sixteenths pole, proved no match for the top one while keeping on to the finish clear for the place honors. SUNDAY BOY broke open the gate door prior to the start before the field was entirely loaded, got coaxed from the start, chased along the inside coming under prolonged encouragement from the half mile pole, angled six wide into upper stretch and improved position to the finish. HURRICANE KAZ coaxed from the gate, chased just off the inside and then along the inside down the backstretch before tipping four wide through the turn under urging from the seven-sixteenths marker, went seven to eight wide into upper stretch and tired. GALLANT ONE three to four wide in pursuit, got ridden along with seven-sixteenths to run, tipped four to five wide at the top of the stretch, faltered in the drive.
