PASS THE HAT settled tracking the front just off the inside from just off the pace, tucked inside three furlongs out and remained patiently handled until set down spinning just off the inside into upper stretch, tipped out two paths from the three-sixteenths to near the eighth pole nudging I'M A GAMBLER at that station, rallied to take command a sixteenth from home and edged clear to the finish to prevail. INTELLECT (FR) settled just off the inside in pursuit from mid pack, came under coaxing along the inside with five-sixteenths remaining, spun three wide into upper stretch, offered up late foot surging to get up for the place honors in the final jumps. EXACT ESTIMATE three then two wide in closest aim of the leader, got let out spinning two to three wide into upper stretch, rallied to take command a furlong out, got collared at the sixteenth pole and ran on to secure the show honors on the line. GARAMOND coaxed from the start, showed the way in hand just off the inside and then along the inside coming under a ride near the eighth pole, took the inside route into upper stretch, dug in under threat and was headed a furlong out, then weakened in the late stages. I'M A GAMBLER (IRE) three wide through the first turn, chased three then two wide, got roused spinning four wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive and was nudged by PASS THE HAT near the eighth pole, then weakened in the late going. BIG BLUE LINE coaxed from the gate, chased two then three wide coming under a ride at the five-sixteenths marker, angled five wide into upper stretch, made no headway. MAYDAY MALONE (GB) three wide through the first turn, chased three then two wide under urging with five-sixteenths to go, swung four wide for home and weakened. AGATE ROAD saved ground at the tail of the field coming under encouragement with five-sixteenths to run, angled out six to seven wide at the top of the stretch and trailed throughout. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run focusing on PASS THE HAT. After review, the result was allowed to stand and the race was declared official.
