Footnotes
JOHN THE BEER MAN went to the front, set the pace under pressure to his outside, was asked along the rail on the turn, shook clear into upper stretch, responded well in the final furlong and held under steady urging. FINAL VERDICT pressed the pace between horses, dew even with a half-mile to run, dropped from the three path to the two path very early on the turn, lost touch with the winner into upper stretch, chased that foe in the drive and held the place. MENTEE was hustled from the gate then urged along off the pace, had his path taken near the half-mile pole and steadied then dropped back, retreated further back with three furlongs to run, saved ground on the turn, found his best stride in the final furlong and finished with good energy for the place. BURHAN (GB) was taken under a strong hold early then rated off the pace, went around the turn in the three to four path, was carried out late on that bend then dropped back in a path, moved out in upper stretch and lacked the needed kick. WAR STRIDE settled off the pace, was roused in the three then two path on the turn and lacked the needed response. NIAGARA SKYLINE was coaxed along on the outside, went around the turn in the four path, waited while carried out late on that bend then dropped back in a path and failed to rally. TREATY OBLIGATION settled on the outside, was roused in the four then three path on the turn, moved out near the furlong marker and failed to threaten. WHAT'S UP BRO broke out then was taken up some, tugged hard on the bit while off heels early, moved to the two path then dragged his way forward while keen and hard to control, gained fast coming to the half-mile pole then dropped back to the rail in front of an opponent, was taken under stronger restraint while just off heels into the turn, bore out late on that bend, reached the six path outside the quarter-pole, came further out into upper stretch and lacked the needed response. FLUID SITUATION pressed the pace on the outside, vied in the four then three path on the turn, dropped back into upper stretch, remained on his inside lead in the drive and capitulated. SHARDS was hustled from the gate then taken in hand early, raced off the pace under reserve, dropped back leaving the backstretch, went around the turn in the three then four path, came into the stretch in the five path and faltered then was eased in the final furlong but walked off.
