APALTA raced just off the inside through the first turn, chased five paths off the inside down the backstretch and then tucked three wide through the far turn coming under urging near the five-sixteenths pole, angled five wide into upper stretch, dug in head to head with NOGUCHI through the stretch taking narrow command near the eighth pole, then shook off that rival a sixteenth out and edged clear to the finish. NOGUCHI coaxed from the gate, showed the way lightly coaxed along just off the inside, got put to encouragement three furlongs out, swung four wide into upper stretch confronted by the top one, dug in under threat and was headed just outside the eighth pole, battled on latched on to the sixteenth marker, then got shaken off in the late stages while well clear of the rest and along second best. DR. INSEL coaxed from the start, raced four then three wide through the first turn, prompted the pace six paths off the inside down the backstretch, tucked to the two path into the far turn and came under urging with five-sixteenths to go, angled seven then six wide into upper stretch and weakened while along for the show honors. THORSNESS chased along the inside through the first turn and then two to three wide down the backstretch, tucked inside through the far turn and came under encouragement midway, went seven to eight wide at the top of the stretch and weakened. DOWN THE LINE raced three then two wide through the first turn, settled four then three wide in closest aim of the leader prompting the pace, began to fade near the half mile pole, swung three wide into upper stretch, tired. ENDURING ANGEL raced three then two wide through the opening turn, chased three then two wide coming under a ride three furlongs out, went nine to ten wide into upper stretch and improved position to the finish. DAYTONA MOONSHINE four then three wide through the first turn, chased six to seven paths off the inside down the backstretch before tucking three to four wide through the far turn, swung four to five wide into upper stretch and tired. UNCLE BARRIE chased along the inside under urging from the three-eighths pole, spun three wide into upper stretch, tired. THE HERO CODE five then four wide through the first turn, chased seven paths off the inside down the backstretch, tucked four wide through the far turn before heading seven wide at the head of the stretch and tired.
