Footnotes
CONCORDE SPIRIT five wide into the first turn, raced three wide through the opening bend before settling three wide in pursuit from mid pack, came under coaxing at the three-eighths still three wide, angled out seven wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive and came in under an active right rein despite a left handed crop two to three paths issuing a challenge for command and impeded BERNING BEAUTY forcing that rival inwards and to steady at the sixteenth marker and HEY TOBY inside that rival to check out at that station, dug in under a drive and was up in the final jumps to the finish. BOB JOHN RAY hustled from the start, showed the way in hand along the inside under the watchful eyes of AULA to the outside but under little pressure save through his presence, came under coaxing at the three-eighths marker, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, dug in under a drive under growing threat from a host of challengers and was caught in the final strides to the finish. BERNING BEAUTY three then two wide through the first turn, chased four then three wide from mid pack, came under encouragement at the three-eighths marker, angled five wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive and got carried in and then forced to steady at the sixteenth marker by CONCORDE SPIRIT, lost some momentum as a result but ran on to the finish. SANZIO chased along the inside and then just off the inside coming under urging at the three-eighths pole, angled six wide into upper stretch and kept on to the wire. HEY TOBY coaxed from the gate, raced four then three wide through the first turn, chased four to five paths off the inside down the backstretch before heading three wide through the far turn coming under coaxing three furlongs from home, cornered four wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive issuing a challenge and fighting on in the stretch when squeezed out and forced to check out at the sixteenth marker by BERNING BEAUTY due to pressure from CONCORDE SPIRIT coming inwards and putting the squeeze on everyone inside of him at that station, couldn't recover and lost position through to the finish. SMALLCHANGEGEEP coaxed from the start, chased just off the inside and then along the inside coming under urging at the three-eighths, spun three wide into upper stretch and weakened in the late stages. LANDAUER four then three wide through the first turn, chased along the inside coming under a ride at the seven-sixteenths pole, spun just off the inside into upper stretch and offered no response. CORVUS chased just off the inside under a ride from three furlongs out, went eight wide into upper stretch, made no impact. AULA raced forwardly placed three then two wide through the first turn, attended the leader from the outside three then two wide coming under urging at the three-eighths pole, swung four wide into upper stretch and tired. ERIC FROM MIAMI three wide through the first turn, chased five then four wide under urging from the seven-sixteenths, went eight wide for home and was eased home to the finish. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run as well as a claim of foul by the rider of BERNING BEAUTY alleging interference against CONCORDE SPIRIT at the sixteenth pole. After review, it was deemed that CONCORDE SPIRIT had interfered with both BERNING BEAUTY and HEY TOBY and CONCOREDE SPIRIT was disqualified from victory and placed fifth before the result was declared official.
