VENETTA went to the front, contested the pace on the inside of an opponent, vied in the three then two path while asked on the turn, dueled gamely with the runner-up in the stretch, brushed with that foe late and narrowly prevailed under strong urging. CARELESS WHISPER disputed the pace on the outside, vied in the four then three path on the turn, dueled with the winner in the stretch and was denied while clear for the place. LAKE ARIEL was well placed behind the leading duo, chased inside on the turn, moved to the two path outside the quarter-pole, floated out to the six path into the stretch, pursued the top two while remaining on her inside lead in the drive and lacked the needed kick but was well clear for the show. SPEED WALKING dropped back under urging while void of speed, moved from the two path to the inside early on the turn, saved ground into the stretch and was no factor. ATIRA was off slow and spotted the front a few lengths, moved up on the outside under urging then chased the pace, dropped back in the four then three path on the turn and faltered.
