Footnotes
HOWLING WIND coaxed from the gate, tipped out shortly after the start to chase six paths off the rail down the backstretch, tucked four wide through the turn coming under coaxing with seven-sixteenths to run, angled out eight wide into upper stretch, rallied in tandem with NINA KAY to overthrow the leader just inside the sixteenth pole, then gamely fended off that foe to prevail at the finish. Following a shoe repair in the paddock, NINA KAY coaxed from the start, raced just off the inside briefly before tipping out four to five paths off the inside, tucked three wide through the turn coming under urging with seven-sixteenths to go, swung six wide into upper stretch, rallied in concert with HOWLING WIND to her outside to displace the leader as a team just inside the sixteenth marker, then got bested at the end by that rival while clear for the place honors. JACKSON'S DIXIE coaxed from the gate, chased three to four paths off the rail down the backstretch before tucking to the two path through the turn, angled out four wide into upper stretch, offered up a mild bid and improved position to the wire. MAJESTIC RETURN urged from the gate, dueled from the three path with LIL' REGARD to her inside through to near the half mile pole when shaking that rival off as she was confronted by SHORT SHIFT, tucked to the two path through the turn and was under pressure to the outside by SHORT SHIFT and remained patiently handled spinning two to three wide into upper stretch, inched away to the eighth pole, dug in under threat and was displaced from the front just inside the sixteenth pole, then weakened in the late stages. SHORT SHIFT coaxed from the start, raced four wide in aim of the front, advanced at the half mile pole tucking three wide into the turn and pressed the pace of MAJESTIC RETURN from the outside, got let out spinning five wide into upper stretch, dug in prominent to the eighth pole and then weakened in the late going. LIL' REGARD dueled from the two path with MAJESTIC RETURN to her outside down the backstretch, got shaken off near the half mile pole and gave chased along the inside through the turn, cornered two to three wide at the head of the stretch and tired.
