Footnotes
ARCTIC WOLF chased the leader on the outside, made a bid leaving the backstretch, took the lead in the three path outside the five-sixteenths pole, inched away at the quarter-pole then was put to a drive in upper stretch, came under a right-handed crop outside the furlong marker, switched to a left-handed crop under attack from the winner outside the sixteenth-pole and turned back that foe to prevail under strong urging. RIVER OF DECEIT settled on the outside, was urged along in the two then three path on the turn, paused off the heels of FIRE MARSHALL when that foe came out outside the quarter-pole, swung out to the five path while roused into the stretch, rallied to make a bid at the furlong marker, loomed a threat into the final sixteenth but was turned away and settled for the place. BERTA'S STITCH was urged along on the outside, traveled around the turn in the two path, turned into upper stretch under a drive, moved out into the final furlong and finished willingly for the show. ZODIAC WARRIOR broke towards the rear then was taken up after the start, spotted the front several lengths, moved in while urged along in the middle of the field, saved ground on the turn, spun into the stretch in the two path and lacked the needed kick. FIRE MARSHAL was well placed in third position, chased inside to the two path for most of the turn then shifted to the three path, pursued the leader under a drive into the final furlong and weakened. JOHNNY HOCKEY broke awkwardly and was off slow then ducked in, spotted the front many lengths, saved ground on the turn and was no factor. BET ON ZION broke last but one then was taken up after the start, spotted the front several lengths, dropped well off the pace under urging, went around the turn in the three path and failed to rally. MEDIEVAL moved in while going to the front, was urged along inside of the winner while along the rail on the turn, lost the advantage to that foe outside the five-sixteenths pole, dropped back into upper stretch and tired. NODIN dropped well back while ridden along, saved ground on the turn and failed to threaten.
