NOBLE HERITAGE broke out at the start under coaxing, chased six paths off the inside down the backstretch and then four wide through the turn coming under urging with seven-sixteenths to go, made progress and went four to five wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive drifting out two paths under a left handed crop, had TWENTY TWO BLACK steadily come out under an active cross rein and then left rein, latched on inside the sixteenth marker, got bumped by that rival coming outwards just before seizing command and then came in at the finish and after the wire bumping TWENTY TWO BLACK back inwards. TWENTY TWO BLACK dueled three to four paths off the inside down the backstretch early on with CAPT FLUFF N STUFF to his inside, shook off that rival to sole command tucked to the two path midway on the turn and remained patiently handled spinning just off the inside into upper stretch, got roused at the three-sixteenths, dug in clear to the eighth pole but under growing threat to the outside, came under cross reined encouragement and then an active left rein and came out three to four paths from that point to inside the sixteenth marker bumping NOBLE HERITAGE forty yards from the finish before being collared before the line and bumped inwards at the wire, then got bumped once more after the wire by NOBLE HERITAGE coming inwards to counter the prior lean and bump. CAPT FLUFF N STUFF coaxed from the start, dueled from the two path early on with the aforementioned foe to the outside, tucked inside into the turn and gave chase when shaken off, came under encouragement at the five-sixteenths marker, cut the corner into upper stretch and kept on to the wire. FESS reluctant to load prior to the start, chased five then three wide under a ride from three furlongs out, tipped seven wide into upper stretch, tired, and was eased home to the finish. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run focusing on NOBLE HERITAGE and TWENTY TWO BLACK, as well as a claim of foul by the rider of TWENTY TWO BLACK alleging interference against NOBLE HERITAGE in deep stretch. After review, the claim of foul was dismissed and the result was allowed to stand prior to the race being declared official.
