Footnotes
MORTAL LOCK saved ground while rated just off the pace under a tight hold, was asked near the five-sixteenths pole, came out under a left-handed crop into upper stretch then bumped FATEFUL LIGHTNING and leaned on that opponent, made a bid between horses inside the furlong marker, continued to fight between horses into the final sixteenth and got up under strong urging to narrowly prevail un-officially on the line. FATEFUL LIGHTNING settled in the two path, was urged along late on the backstretch, chased in the two path on the far turn, gained in the four path into the stretch, was bumped by MORTAL LOCK outside the three-sixteenths pole, made a bid on the outside of the leader while coming in a tad near the eighth-pole, fought outside of two rivals to the finish and just missed while narrowly able to get the un-official second place position. EXECUTIVE lost his footing in the hindquarters at the start but broke with the body of the field, established a forward position early, rounded the opening bend in the three path, prompted the pace on the outside, turned up the pressure in the two path on the far turn, was given his cue outside the quarter-pole, took the lead in the three path into upper stretch, came in outside the sixteenth-pole, led under a crop into the final sixteenth, battled inside of two foes late and was denied while clear for third position. CHESTER BOY was taken under a snug hold early then reserved on the inside, gained while cutting the corner into upper stretch then moved to the two path, raced in traffic behind the leaders into the final furlong, steadied while trying to get through a tight opening after EXECUTIVE came in outside the sixteenth-pole, bumped with CEDERBERG in the process, altered out into the final sixteenth and finished willingly but lost any chance. CEDERBERG went to the front, rounded the first turn in the two path, showed the way on the inside of an opponent, vied inside on the far turn, was asked near the five-sixteenths pole, lost the advantage in upper stretch, bumped with a foe while dropping back inside the furlong marker and weakened. CHESS MATCH broke out then was hustled, raced in the three path on the first turn, settled outside without cover, was urged along late on the backstretch, traveled around the far turn in the three path, dropped back in the five path into upper stretch and failed to rally. REBALANCING was taken back between horses under strong restraint then reserved in the two path, came under urging late on the backstretch, went around the far turn in the two path, turned into upper stretch under a drive and failed to threaten. FOLLOWING THE RACE, THE RIDER OF FATEFUL LIGHTNING CLAIMED FOUL AGAINST MORTAL LOCK ALLEGING INTERERFENCE IN THE STRETCH. AFTER THE STEWARDS' REVIEW, MORTAL LOCK WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST AND PLACED SECOND
