COMMUTED coaxed from the gate, dueled inside of REGISTER coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, shook off that rival and spun three wide into upper stretch, dug in under threat from flanking rivals and came inwards to the two path a furlong out to look the inside rival in the eye, dug in between foes to the sixteenth marker, had RANGER BATTALION come outwards slightly and brushed with that rival at that station, came inwards under a stiff right hand rein and a loose left rein, the rider making contact with RANGER BATTALION and pushing himself off as HOUSE UNITED came inwards filling the vacant space of COMMUTED through to the wire while never making contact with that rival, came in as a pair and forced RANGER BATTALION to check out along a closing rail strides from the finish and just held on to prevail. HOUSE UNITED four then three wide in pursuit, advanced on the top pair five-sixteenths from home and came under coaxing near the quarter pole, swung four wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive stacked outside a pair of rivals heads apart for command through the stretch, came inwards filling the space given to him through to the finish under a right handed crop as that inside pair jostled along the inside, but never made any contact with COMMUTED through to the wire and just missed at the end. DREAMLIKE coaxed from the start, chased two to three wide coaxed along from three furlongs out, went seven wide into upper stretch, kicked on belatedly to the finish. RANGER BATTALION chased along the inside coming under encouragement near the quarter pole, spun three wide into upper stretch in behind COMMUTED and then straightened away in the two path near the three-sixteenths, rallied up the inside briefly with a lane between he and COMMUTED and had COMMUTED come over to look him in the eye a furlong out, dug in under a drive the innermost of a trio heads apart for command, came out under a left handed crop and brushed with COMMUTED a sixteenth out, had that foe come inwards under a stiff right hand drive as HOUSE UNITED continued to fill the empty space given him by COMMUTED and had the rider of COMMUTED push off with his elbow the first time and then got forced to check when impeded and squeezed out along the rail strides from the finish as COMMUTED came in again. HOT SPUN chased along the inside under a ride from the three-eighths, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, offered up a mild bid. REGISTER dueled three then two wide coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, got shaken off and went six wide into upper stretch, tired. SWAGGISH chased four then three wide under coaxing from the three-eighths pole, went seven wide into upper stretch, tired. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run as well as a claim of foul by the rider of RANGER BATTALION alleging interference against both COMMUTED and HOUSE UNITED in the stretch. After review, HOUSE UNITED was disqualified from second and placed fourth prior to the race being declared official.
