Footnotes
DAY ONE STARTER bumped with a rival at the start then was hustled to the front, showed the way down the backstretch, vied inside early on the turn, came off the rail near the three-eighths pole which allowed SCHOOLYARDSUPERMAN through to his inside, dropped closer to the rail from the two path coming to the quarter-pole, had the aforementioned foe clip his heels, shook clear under a drive in upper stretch, was put to a right-handed crop outside the furlong marker and drew away under steady urging. CREDIT HISTORY stalked the pace on the outside, made a bid leaving the backstretch, vied in the two then three path on the turn, spun into upper stretch under the crop and proved no match for the winner while clear for the place. GORDY bumped with a foe shortly after the start, dropped back while crowded along the rail early, moved up under urging near the nine-sixteenths pole, swerved out over heels at that juncture, was roused in the three then four path on the turn, turned into the stretch in the five path and lacked the needed response while able to get the show. VERSAILLES ROAD was hustled from the gate, moved out early then was urged along on the outside, went around the turn in the three then four path, came out to the seven path into upper stretch and failed to threaten. DREAM MACHINE tracked the pace, dropped back late on the backstretch, was roused in the two path on the turn, hit the fallen rival into upper stretch, stumbled over that foe then was checked sharply, had the rider lose both irons at that point and was eased but walked off. SCHOOLYARDSUPERMAN bumped with foes on both sides at the start, raced just off the pace on the inside, was asked when presented a rail opening with three furlongs to run, came through to make a bid inside of the winner shortly thereafter, was put in tight quarters approaching the quarter-pole, took an awkward stride in tight against the fence at the top of the stretch, clipped the heels of the winner at that juncture and fell then was transported off the track via equine ambulance. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INTO THE INCIDENT NEAR THE QUARTER-POLE, NO CHANGE WAS MADE TO THE ORDER OF FINISH
