Footnotes
PEEK tracked the pace on the outside in the three path, made a bid under urging on the far turn, gained the advantage inside the five-sixteenths pole, responded well when put to a left-handed crop in upper stretch, switched to a right-handed crop outside the furlong marker, was given one final pop of the crop approaching the sixteenth-pole then held under a strong hand-ride to the finish. O P FIRECRACKER rounded the first turn in the two path, settled in fourth position while moving to the outside, chased in the four path on the far turn, pursued the winner willingly in the stretch, swapped back to his inside lead inside the sixteenth-pole and narrowly earned the place. LAUGHING BOY was hustled to the front, showed the way in the two path, was asked approaching the seven-sixteenths pole, vied in the two path on the far turn, lost the lead to the winner inside the five-sixteenths pole, kept on well while pursuing that foe in the stretch and just missed the place but earned the show. BOLD ENDEAVOR stumbled at the start but broke with the body of the field, saved ground while well placed just off the pace, was asked with about a half-mile to run, chased inside early on the far turn, shifted to the three path late on that bend, was driven into the stretch in the five path, kept on willingly in the stretch and narrowly earned the last spot in the superfecta. BOLD VICTORY raced inside to the two path on the turns and failed to threaten. MIDNIGHT TROUBLE raced in the three path on the first turn, settled on the outside, was urged along passing the nine-sixteenths pole, went around the far turn in the two then three path and was no factor. TIBERIUS MERCURIUS tossed his head just as the latch was sprung then reared and was off slow, spotted the front several lengths then angled in, moved from the rail to the two path early on the first turn, lagged at the rear, raced inside to the two path under urging on the far turn, came out to the five path into upper stretch and also was no factor. ROYAL TRYST saved ground on the first turn, moved out while urged along towards the rear on the backstretch, went around the far turn in the three path and showed little.
