Footnotes
BATTLE DRUM (FR) was well placed towards the front in the two path, shifted to the three path while asked outside the five-sixteenths pole and bumped a foe, rallied into upper stretch, gained to get the lead outside the eighth-pole, drifted inward into the final furlong, moved clear coming to the sixteenth-pole and held under steady urging. NO MERLOT dropped from the two path to the rail on the first turn, settled towards the rear, was roused in the two path on the turn, turned into the stretch in the three path then moved further out and finished with good energy but missed while up for the place. SUSPICIOUSLY NAMED went to the front, showed the way on the inside, was asked near the quarter-pole then came under a drive in upper stretch, lost the advantage to the winner outside the eighth-pole, fought on well in the final furlong and just missed the place while clear for the show. BILLY WHITE SHOES (IRE) was keen under restraint early, saved ground on the first turn, settled more kindly on the backstretch, was roused with three furlongs to run, raced inside on the far turn, turned into the stretch in the two path, chased in a good striking range in the drive but flattened out some and lacked the needed kick. THORSNESS raced in the three path on the first turn, settled on the outside, was roused in the three path on the far turn, turned into upper stretch under a drive and improved position. POLICY CHANGE tracked the pace on the outside in the two path, chased on the far turn, spun into the stretch in the three path, made a bid outside the furlong marker, dropped back into the final sixteenth and weakened. RETEKO was rated just off the pace on the inside, came under urging on the far turn, shifted to the two path into the stretch, chased under a drive into the final furlong and tired. SKI BUM traveled around the first turn in the three path, settled outside without cover, was roused in the three path early on the far turn then bumped into the four path outside the five-sixteenths pole, turned into upper stretch under a drive and came up empty. WINEGOLD settled on the inside, was urged along late on the backstretch, saved ground on the far turn and failed to threaten. BRIGHT ANGEL (IRE) rounded the first turn in the two path, settled off the pace, saved ground while roused on the far turn, turned into the stretch under the crop and failed to rally. NANTZ lagged near the back while racing in the two path on the turns and showed little.
