Footnotes
TAPWRITS TEMPER settled just off the pace, was asked in the three path on the turn, chased in the four path into the stretch, moved out from behind foes around the three-sixteenths pole, rallied outside in the final furlong and closed well to get up in the final strides and narrowly prevail. CELESTIAL GLAZE had a shoe repaired in the paddock, was guided out early then advanced on the outside, gained to make a bid in the four then three path on the turn, took the lead late on that bend, spun into the stretch in the five path then was straightened away in the four path, dueled inside of CONNIVING into the final sixteenth, fought gamely while head-bobbing with that foe to the finish and just bested that one for the place while denied by the winner. CONNIVING was taken in hand early then settled off the pace, dropped from the five path to the four path early on the turn, was asked on that bend, gained in the six path into the stretch then made a bid outside of CELESTIAL GLAZE, dueled gamely with that foe into the final sixteenth, fought on determinedly while head-bobbing with that opponent late and just missed while clear for the show. EPITAPH broke very alertly, pressed the pace on the inside of two foes, was eased back just off the pace leaving the backstretch, went around the turn in the two path, dropped to the rail while asked for his best in upper stretch and lacked the needed response. SHATTUCK dropped back after the start, was urged along at the rear, traveled around most of the turn in the two path then shifted to the four path, turned into the stretch in the six path and failed to threaten. ELYSIAN MEADOWS brushed with a foe at the start, disputed the pace on the outside, vied in the three then two path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the three path then dropped back under a drive and weakened. BIG GAIN brushed with a rival at the start, disputed the pace down the backstretch, vied two path to the inside on the turn, dropped back under a drive in upper stretch and tired. SALMING was rated off the pace, came under urging in the three path on the turn, spun into upper stretch under a drive and failed to respond. GHOSTWRITER was taken in hand briefly early, settled towards the rear, was roused in the two path on the turn, moved out in upper stretch and also failed to respond.
