Footnotes
SCALENE moved in while going to the front, showed the way off the inside, went around the turn in the two path, responded well when asked inside the quarter-pole, shook off CALLING MR, MO inside the three-sixteenths pole, came under a right-handed crop outside the furlong marker, had the rider put the crop away outside the sixteenth-pole and proved much the best under a hand-ride to the finish. ROAD SHOW broke alertly then ducked in, was well placed just off the pace, saved ground on the turn, was given his cue near the five-sixteenths pole, shifted into the three path entering the stretch, pursued the winner in the drive and proved no match while just able to get the place. CALLING MR. MO stalked the pace while well out in the course, vied in the three path on the turn, was roused near the five-sixteenths pole, lost touch with the winner outside the furlong marker and weakened then lost the place while clear for the show. SOLDIER'S GLORY angled in at the rear, was roused in the two path on the turn, swung out into upper stretch, reached the five path around the three-sixteenths pole and lacked the needed response. CUYLLE settled on the outside, moved in just inside the five-eighths pole, was ridden along in the three path on the turn, came into the stretch in the five path, dropped in around the three-sixteenths pole and failed to rally. MENDEL settled off the pace, moved in with five furlongs to run, raced between horses in the two path on the turn, was roused outside the five-sixteenths pole then driven into the stretch in the four path and came up empty. SARATOGA TEA brushed the outside of the gate at the start, settled off the pace, went around the turn in the four path, was roused outside the five-sixteenths pole, swung into upper stretch in the six path and failed to respond.
