Footnotes
OIL CAPITAL showed the way along the inside under outer pressure, nudged along in hand around the seven-sixteenths pole, continued to pull away in the upper stretch while drifting out before entering a right-handed drive for the final furlong and finishing firmly. DR RUBEN M bumped with inner foe at the start, settled to trail along the inside before the turn, was roused about the half mile marker to begin closing along the turn, took to the outside at the top of the stretch and rallied well to earn the place honors. MO THE MERRIER was off the pace in the early stages, advanced four wide through the turn, lacked a closing effort in the stretch but was able to keep on for the show award. NASH POTATOES stumbled out of the gate and was bumped between horses, settled off the pace three wide before entering the turn, began asking around the three-eighths, angled out five wide at the top of the lane and made some minor improvements. ROME'S CONQUEST bumped outer foe at the start, pressed pace two wide, was given his cue nearing the three-eighths pole but was unable to keep up with the pace in the upper stretch, began weakening in the final furlong. BOGUS OPERANDI brushed the gate and bumped outer foe at the start, found the inside for the run up the backstretch but was pulling hard along the bit while keen until the nine sixteenths, chased along the inside of the turn under a tight rein before receiving some mild encouragement in the upper stretch where he gave no response. VILLAGE PERSON bumped inner foe at the start, moved up to track the pace three wide entering the turn, nudged along nearing the three eighths but was unable to keep his position and began fading after entering the stretch. EMPHASIS crossed into the two path early for a position just behind the pace, began backing off through the turn and came up empty when called upon.
