ULTRA XTREME was reluctant to load, chased in fourth position as part of a strung-out field early, edged closer past the furlong mark, was pushed along inside around the far turn, responded with a rally, sustained that rally into the lane by advancing inside of LIEUTENANT CHARM into the lane, shifted out two wide near the three sixteenths with aim on ENGLISH ICON, caught that foe near the furlong mark and drove clear. LIEUTENANT CHARM chased well behind the leading pair, edged up to take closer order on the backstretch, was urged in the four path outside of NOAH'S GOLD on the turn, swung in for a three-wide bid in upper stretch, kept on under a drive but proved no match for ULTRA XTREME. ENGLISH ICON was hustled for early pace, dueled outside of NOAH'S GOLD while running well clear of the rest of the field, took a clear lead past the five eighths, continued to set the pace while saving ground on the far turn, went to a drive in upper stretch, but was headed near the furlong mark and weakened. NOAH'S GOLD disputed the early pace inside of ENGLISH ICON, let that one go on from near the five eighths, tracked in range down the backstretch, was pushed along to continue tracking the pace in the three path on the far turn while racing inside LIEUTENANT CHARM, but did not have enough to keep up with the top three near the three sixteenths. GIULIO CESARE raced in second last early, continued two wide in the rear flight down the backstretch, took closer order while two wide on the far turn, and had no response when driven in upper stretch. DOKKODO was fractious behind the gate while ULTRA XTREME was reluctant to load, settled at the rear early, raced at the inside of the rear flight on the backstretch, was pushed along to take closer order approaching the second turn, but ultimately lacked a rally.
