Footnotes
MY REMBRANDT was unhurried and saved ground, advanced along the rail into the second turn, bid between horses, went five wide entering the stretch, bid willingly, dueled briefly and inched clear late to prove best. GIULIO CESARE advanced outside to the turn, swung out entering the stretch, bid willingly to contend, dueled briefly and yielded to finish second best. ATHLETIC LIKE was never far back, raced inside to the turn, angled back in for the drive, bid in traffic, closed once clear and got up for show. TWENTYTHREEONBLACK was fractious loading, settled off the pace, advanced on the turn, was steadied, dropped inside, bid along the rail, lacked room near the eighth pole, angled out and finished with good energy. THIRTYNINE TIMBERS broke slowly, was unhurried early and saved ground, angled out into the second turn, bid six wide and passed a tiring rival. GRANDPA'S ACE drew off on the first turn, set the pace with a clear lead, faltered near the eighth pole and dropped back.
