Footnotes
VICTORIOUS VANDA tracked the pace while saving ground, was always close up under some restraint, slipped through an opening along the rail into the stretch, then held off a rival on the outside under intermittent urging. HURRICANE CLOUD (GB) was taken off the pace early, then pulled up 3-wide down the backstretch to be in range of the leading group going into the far turn, advanced three-wide late on the turn, then was set down four-wide at the top of the stretch, closed in late but could not reel in the winner. NORTH ARM BAY pressed the early pace two-deep, finished well, but was out-kicked in the closing stages. STRADIVARIAN made the early lead and was left alone to dictate the early fractions under only mild pressure, dug in under threat approaching the quarter pole, then gave way in the final furlong. TREBLE CLEF settled well back early, made a mild late bid to regain contact with the field in the stretch but was unable to improve position.
