ESSENTIAL LADY was bumped by STRATIA in the opening strides and subsequently stumbled, recovered quickly to gain a spot stalking the pace outside of STRATIA, continued to stalk two wide down the backstretch and around the far turn, floated three to four wide into upper stretch, responded when driven for a bid in upper stretch, took the lead approaching the furlong pole and cleared off. TAMARACK chased inside of STUNNING SAPPHIRE around the clubhouse turn, inched forward onto the backstretch to track the leading pair, saved ground around the far turn, swung four wide into upper stretch, went to a drive midstretch and chased on best of the rest while not matching the kick of the winner. MENDELSSOHNS COMET hopped at the start, raced at the rear early, inched into closer order on the backstretch to assume a position midpack, saved ground midpack around the far turn, was pushed along near the five sixteenths, angled out approaching the quarter, swung five wide into the stretch and rallied mildly for show. STRATIA came inward in the opening strides, bumping ESSENTIAL LADY, took the lead while saving ground, continued on a clear lead down the backstretch and into the second turn, continued to save ground around the far turn, was engaged by ESSENTIAL LADY into upper stretch, could not hold her off approaching the furlong mark and weakened. STUNNING SAPPHIRE chased outside of TAMARACK around the clubhouse turn, was unhurried into the backstretch, was pushed along two wide toward the rear of the pack on the far turn and driven in upper stretch, but lacked the needed rally. CLEARLY AUTHENTIC was reluctant to load, settled at the rear flight outside of MENDELSSOHNS COMET early, raced at the rear down the backstretch and while saving ground on the far turn, was driven inside into the lane and came up empty.
