FOR COLTS AND GELDINGS, THREE YEARS OLD WHICH ARE REGISTERED MINNESOTA BRED. $250 to nominate by Wednesday, April 1. Late nomination fee: $750 by Monday, June 1. $500 to enter, $500 additional to start. Supplemental nominations of $3,000 will be accepted at time of entry which shall include all fees. $75,000 Guaranteed (Includes $5,000 from the Minnesota Breeders' Fund) of which $45,000 to the owner of the winner. All other purse monies paid corresponding with purse schedule in the Condition Book. Weight : 122 lbs. Maidens allowed 5 lbs. Starters to be named through the entry box by the usual time of closing. The Minnesota Derby will be limited to fourteen (14) starters. High weights on the scale will be preferred (winners preferred). Total earnings willb e used in determining the order of preference of horses assigned equal weights. Canterbury Park reserves the right to refuse any nomination or entry into this race. Failure to draw into the race will result in a refund of the entry fee. A trophy will be p resented to the winning owner. The final purse will be reduced by the cost of any Out of Competition testing required by the Minnesota Racing Commission as a condition of competing in this race. THAT TYPE OFA DEAL raced at the rear, ran under a hold around the far turn and into the back straight, was allowed to improve between horses on the far turn, swung out into the lane and drifted out near the center of the course, nonetheless kicked on with his best from the sixteenth, showed good energy while drifting in a few paths late and seized the lead in the last six jumps. PERFECT GAMBLE tracked behind the pacesetter NAVARRE around the first turn, chased inside a foe while still well off the rail down the back side, edged into closer range of NAVARRE, raced in the two path on the far turn, rallied inside of that foe past the quarter pole to seize the lead, drifted out under a drive, kept the lead inside the sixteenth mark but was caught by THAT TYPE OFA DEAL. NAVARRE broke sharply, set the pace while racing well off the rail, continued on the lead in the four path on the far turn, was caught by PERFECT GAMBLE to his inside past the quarter pole, chased on between horses in the lane but did not have enough to reel him back in and had to settle for the show. HOW BOUT THAT CURT tracked outside of PERFECT GAMBLE, edged closer to the leader down the back straight, chased in the four to five path on the far turn, but had no response under a drive.
