Footnotes
MERIT BADGE tracked the pace inside of STRIKE ONE MORE early, advanced inside of FOUND THE SECRET to take the lead near the half, was clear from the seven sixteenths while racing in the two path around the bend, and drew away while kept to the task. BLAZIN SPIRIT broke outward and bumped FUN LOVIN GUY in the opening strides, chased well behind the leading trio down the backstretch, was pushed along for a four-wide bid inside of TWIN CITY BOY near the three eighths, dropped inside after passing other foes and saved ground into the lane, chased inside foes in the lane under a drive, never threatened the winner but kept on with interest to prove best of the rest. STRIKE ONE MORE broke sharply and tracked the pace after FOUND THE SECRET sent to the front, raced three wide into the turn, was pushed along in the three path to stalk MERIT BADGE around the bend, proved no match for that foe, and chased on mildly under a drive between horses for the show. TWIN CITY BOY was reluctant to load, took up when in tight between horses just after the start, chased toward the rear early, was urged five wide for a bid near the three eighths outside of BLAZIN SPIRIT, improved position, swung into the lane in the five path, raced greenly under a drive, and chased on mildly. JACKFIRE settled toward the rear inside, took up inside MIGHTY SAMURAI near the three eighths, saved ground around the bend, floated into the lane in the five path, and ran on mildly outside of tiring horses. FUN LOVIN GUY was bumped by BLAZIN SPIRIT in the opening strides, settled toward the rear three deep early, continued three wide around the turn while coming under urging, raced two wide into the lane and lacked the needed rally under a drive. MIGHTY SAMURAI settled toward the rear two wide early, came in on JACKFIRE near the three eighths, saved ground into the lane, and had no kick in the lane. ROCKIN POWERHOUSE broke inward, settled at the rear early, trailed in the three to four path on the turn, took mildly closer order past the three eighths when pushed, floated into the lane in the five path and came up empty. FOUND THE SECRET was hustled between horses to the lead, was headed from the inside at the half mile mark, capitulated, and was eased in the lane.
