EIGHTYSIXCHEVY outsprinted ABLE SEAMAN to the lead into the first turn, continued to set the pace down the backstretch, was unfazed when WORDS OF WISDOM attempted a bid to his outside around the far turn, was urged in upper stretch and driven approaching the furlong mark, and kept finding enough to keep that foe at bay. WORDS OF WISDOM stalked the pace two wide through the first turn, was a clear second from the three quarters, was urged in the three path on the far turn to attempt a bid outside of EIGHTYSIXCHEVY, could not reel that foe all the way in, continued to give chase outside that foe down the lane but was second best under a drive. HOLIDAY FANTASY chased inside around the first turn, advanced into the backstretch to track the leading pair between horses, was urged into the far turn to improve inside of WORDS OF WISDOM, saved ground around the far turn while ultimately not having enough to reel in the top two, angled into the five path for the stretch run, and chased on under a drive to prove best of the rest. ABLE SEAMAN was urged for speed out of the gate but outsprinted by EIGHTYSIXCHEVY into the first turn, tracked the pace inside, began to lose position near the nine sixteenths, chased in the two path on the far turn, was driven in upper stretch, and chased on without finding the kick necessary to reengage the top three. CATHOLIC GUILT chased in the three to four path on the first turn, advanced into the backstretch to join the tracking flight three wide, chased in the four path around the second turn, floated into the lane in the six path and lacked the needed rally. SCORE MCCOY soon trailed, was pushed along in the three path on the far turn and made mild improvement, swung into the lane in the seven path, drifted out further and ultimately proved no threat. MERLIN'S SISTER settled toward the rear well behind the main pack but well ahead of SCORE MCCOY, was pushed along while saving ground on the far turn, was nonetheless relegated to last approaching the furlong mark, and had no rally in the lane.
