ROYAL SAPPHIRE vied for the lead with an outer pair while remaining a path off of the inside around the turn, led narrowly as the long duel with his most immediate counterpart into the final furlong but got outkicked by a wider bidder leaving the sixteenth pole. VANDERBILT vied for the lead two wide while kept in the three path and between horses around the turn, fought on to sustain the battle with his inner counterpart through midstretch but got outkicked at the sixteenth pole then was denied place. LANDING CRAFT bumped with an outer foe at the start, tracked along the inside, then from the two path around the turn, chased up the rail through the lane but lacked progress. NASH POTATOES bumped with an inner foe at the start, raced off of the pace along the inside, tipped to the three path into the lane then chased one paced between rivals. SPURGEON broke a step slow, lagged behind in the two path, shifted out to the seven path in the final furlong and failed to factor.
