Footnotes
SOUND CAUSE forwardly placed from the start, three wide when prompting the issue through the first turn and onto the backstretch, maintained good position into the far turn, challenged while still in the three path, dueled with the runner up into the stretch, extended battle to the wire, edged away late under firm handling. SNARE broke forwardly, prompted the leader off the inside, overtook that one far turn along with the winner, raced on equal terms with that one into and through most of the stretch, outdueled in the late going, clear of the others. TAUNTING in mid pack while five wide through the first turn, continued well wide, five wide again in the second bend when beginning to unwind, set down for the drive, made a late run displaying good energy to pick up the show. MI COMPADRE in the second group while off the inside, between horses when still within striking distance final turn, dove to the inside for the drive, went evenly the final furlong. RULOOKINFORRAYRAY keen early while three wide into the first turn, moved out a bit backstretch, four wide into the far bend, moved closer into the stretch and also went flat in the late going. CULTURE WAR settled off the pace and the inside, came three wide for the drive inside of several rivals to better his position, closest with a furlong to and also hung in the run to the wire. WINERY in tight just after the start, trailed early, inside far turn, steered three wide into the lane, improved upper stretch, no real threat. EXECUTOR bobbled just after the start, raced back, five wide through the final turn, improved slightly, not a serious threat. DEMETRIUS lacked speed, four wide into and through most of the final bend, came five wide for the drive, shifted out a bit more to be widest, lacked a closing response. MAKUTU behind the pace inside, continued to save ground when within striking distance into the far bend, bottled up behind a tiring pacesetter through that turn losing position, continued to fade through upper stretch. MCILROY took over after start, set the pace inside, stopped when headed by the top pair in the far turn, jogged in.
