NO MERLOT was settled mid-pack and came about three to four wide around, then six wide into the upper and steered out near the sixteenth marker and just barely closed up. CHINGU set a pressured pace from the inside and tipped five wide into the upper and drew off from the pack but lugged out at the sixteenth pole and was nailed at the wire. BEEKMAN STREET stalked the pace from the three path and came five wide into the upper and angled in a bit but was just short. LOMAX settled near the back in the three path and came five wide into the upper and improved while angling inwards nearing the sixteenth marker but was no match for the top three. SMOOTH AN EASY saved ground through the early stages and improved mildly in the stretch. STARSHIP MAGELLAN pressed the pace from the two path for most of the race and cut the corner then faded in the stretch. OXFORD UNION settled mid-pack in the two path and came four wide in the upper but weakened. EFFICACY settled off the pace at the back in the two to three path and came five wide into the upper but was no factor. WHITE BLUE settled off pace at the very back and got distanced then eased up nearing the turn. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY AND A RIDER OBJECTION FROM THE 9 HORSE AGAINST 1 IN THE STRETCH, AFTER VIDEO REVIEW CHINGU WAS DISQUALIFIED AND PLACED THIRD.
