Footnotes
STARRY NIGHT took command soon after the start, showed the way in the two path into the first turn through a slow opening quarter, moved inside when clear, dueled up the backstretch, disposed of the other speed into the straight then held the runner up comfortably safe late under steady handling. WHAPPEN settled in the second flight while off the inside, continued to track the leaders the middle half, set down for the drive, made a slow but steady gain on the winner to be clearly second best. SOUPER AMUSING forwardly placed past wire the first time, pulled then was rank into the first turn when in some traffic, settled and moved up to duel with the winner up the backstretch, bothered by a loose rival when floated out with four furlongs to run, rejoined the winner, dueled through the second turn then weakened in the drive. SPYING steadied briefly outside a stricken foe into the first turn, raced in the second flight along the inside onto backstretch, bothered slightly by the loose horse, settled once again and turned in an even effort. MOLLY'S ROSE four wide through the first turn when outside a loose rival, remained back and failed to rally. BREAD TO RUN firmly in hand behind the pace into the first turn, in tight along the rail, clipped heels and unseated rider. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS INQUIRY REGARDING THE RUN INTO THE FIRST TURN, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
