HAZAEL pressed the pace while three wide, disposed of rival entering the final turn, drew clear into the stretch, and held under a late threat by NOVEL. NOVEL tracked six wide, responded to encouragement into the stretch, closed gamely and missed. THRILL OF THE NITE contended the early pace, was unable to move on with the eventual winner and lacked the closing response that was needed. COUNT ON IT saved ground and lacked a bid. WHERE'S THE PUMPS was reserved off the early pacesetters while four wide, and failed to threaten.
