Footnotes
MALA off slowly after being squeezed at the start, trailed early, rallied into the stretch, responded gamely under urging, and surged in the final yards to get up at the wire. STONE HOUSE jostled away then quickly went to the front, drew away leaving the backstretch, and was collared before the wire. INDEPENDENCE NEIGH was outsprinted to the turn, then raced in closest pursuit, and just held on for show. WRIT IN STONE bumped leaving, was five to six wide early, closed late and just missed. MAN AT THE PULPIT settled midpack while three wide, was roused at the head of the lane and gave way late. VANTASTICCANAVERAL was reserved off the early pacesetters, settling in the middle of the track, angled in four wide in the far turn, and came up empty in the drive. EITHERINORINTHEWAY offered little. HUGH GLASS failed to threaten. BRI'S BOY was bumped leaving the gate, and showed little.
