A STAKE FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS AND UPWARD ALBERTA BREDS. A $100 fee to accompany the nomination, a payment of $500 is required to pass the entry box and a fee of $400 to start. The purse will be divided $36,000 to the owner of the winner, $12,000 to the seco nd place finisher, $6,000 to the third place finisher, $3,000 to the fourth place finisher and $1,200 to the fifth place finisher. A payment of $500 will be paid to all horses who start and finish 6th or worse. High weights preferred. Starters to be nam ed through the entry box by the closing time of entries. The field will be limited to 12 starters. A trophy will be presented to the winning owner. (S)

PATRIOTIC FREEDOM stalked four wide into the opening turn, pressed the issue nearing the quarter pole, grabbed the lead and won going away. FLASHFORDANI saved ground inside, waited in the final turn, closed gradually through the stretch, found more late and inched clear. SMART PLAY pressed the pace while three wide, rallied in the final turn, and gave way grudgingly. BRODY'S PAL was four to five wide into the first turn, and lodged a mild bid. OUR SUNSHINE passed a tiring rival. THESHACK set the pace from the two path, and had nothing left in reserve for the stretch drive.
