Footnotes
NASTY HABIT broke well, chased outside a rival then moved up to apply pressure three deep, vied with inner pair around the bend, dueled with CODE DUELLO into the final furlong, put ahead in front midstretch and gamely prevailed three deep in the end. CODE DUELLO bobbled leaving the gate, chased for a bit then pressed from inside, put a head in front battling around the turn from the fence, carried a short lead over NAST HABIT at the eighth pole, relinquished the lead shortly after, battled back in the last sixteenth and held second between runners. DONCIC tracked two wide or between rivals, found the rail at the quarter pole, given his cue at the top of the lane, challenged outer pair in the late stages and missed second. GREGORY'S PRIDE dropped back early under coaxing, trailed on the inside, tipped two wide nearing the stretch, angled out further and produced a mild rally to round out the superfecta. MUBTADAA tracked from inside, steadied in tight at the five-sixteenths pole, stayed on the fence to the stretch, moved out in the lane and could not rally. TOM SEAVER unhurried in the early going, rounded the turn three then two wide, came back to the three path entering the lane, angled out and failed to menace. SMART CODE broke well, stalked four wide to the stretch and weakened. ALPHABETICAL ORDER sent clear early, took an awkward step at the half-mile pole and invited a pair of rivals to challenge from both sides, lost command dueling on the turn and folded in the stretch.
