SOMERSET WEST content to trail in the early going and angled to the inside, closed in around the far turn and chased within striking distance turning for home, rallied up the fence to challenge midstretch, dueled with INBOX (GB) and edged that rival for the victory. INBOX (GB) traveled in the two path towards the rear, gained through the far turn along the rail then shifted to the two path at the quarter pole, steered out into the clear to unleash a rally, put a head front nearing the sixteenth pole while crossing in front of WILD LIKE THE WEST and was bested by SOMERSET WEST late. RAIDING PARTY (IRE) unhurried in the early going on the inside then moved into the two path around the first turn, drew closer three deep on the far turn, angled out widest at the quarter pole, came five wide into the lane, steered out further to rally eight wide and gained the show honors. PEANUTBUTTERBOMBE sat off the pace outside a rival, drew closer in the middle stages, asked midway around the far turn while while going two then three wide, angled seven wide at the top of the stretch and got outclosed for third. GROUND SUPPORT angled to the inside stalking the speed, followed behind the leader through the far turn, lacked room from upper to midstretch and kept trying once moving to a clear path. CORTINA D'AMPREZZO (IRE) dueled outside LIGHT WON UP to the top of the lane, fought between rivals midstretch and weakened in the last sixteenth. SPIRIT DOLL stalked in the two path between runners, remained two wide into the far turn, bid four wide at the quarter pole and flattened out in the final furlong. LIGHT WON UP dueled for command from inside, carried a short lead through the far turn, resisted into the final furlong, relinquished the lead midstretch and weakened. WILD LIKE THE WEST traveled in mid-pack on the inside, launched a bid in the two patch then challenged three deep on the far turn, fought between in the lane, lost his path and checked at the sixteenth pole and lost all momentum. MARJORAM stalked three deep in the early going, coaxed along four deep on the far turn, trailed into the stretch and tired. THERE WAS AN INQUIRY INVOLVING INBOX (GB) AND WILD LIKE THE WEST NEAR THE SIXTEENTH POLE. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT ALTHOUGH INBOX (GB) DID CROSS OVER AND CAUSE WILD LIKE THE WEST TO TAKE UP, THE INCIDENT DID NOT WARRANT A DISQUALIFICATION.
