ROSCOE'S BROTHER away quickly, lost command to BLACK TIE OPTIONAL early and dueled with that rival up the backstretch, regained the advantage with a quarter mile remaining and maintained a short lead over BLACK TIE OPTIONAL to the wire. BLACK TIE OPTIONAL made light contact with SCORPY in the beginning and bucked shortly after knocking the rider off balance briefly, rushed up between rivals to take the lead from ROSCOE'S BROTHER and dueled with that rival up the backstretch, fought head to head through the turn and lost command at the quarter pole, battled back through the lane and finished gamely in defeat. CHEEVER settled off the pace, exited the backstretch in the three path, started to move while moving into the two path, ran into traffic at the five-sixteenths pole, tipped three then four wide, lugged out at the eighth pole and kept gaining on the top pair to the wire. KNAVE OF HEARTS showed early speed between rivals then stalked outside a runners, ridden along through the turn, chased two to three wide turning for home and weakened. BAD REPUTATION chased off the rail, three then four wide on the turn and faded. SCORPY tracked four wide into the turn, dropped back and angled to the inside, then came up empty in the drive. TRUTH OR DARE raced up close on the inside, lost some ground on the turn and tired in the stretch. THEMAYOR OF DELMAR shifted in and checked early, trailed on the inside and never got involved.
