Footnotes
DANE THE GREAT traveled on the inside at the back then shifted to the two path, moved forward between rivals in the middle stages, traveled two wide on the far turn, steered out late on the bend, angled out further and rallied widest, took over midstretch and drove clear. WASTING ACES tracked four wide around the first turn, lacked room in the three path at the three-eighths pole, cut to the inside, angled back out approaching the stretch, closed in and put a head in front briefly past the eighth pole, overtaken shortly after and saved second. FARMER TOM tracked in the three path around the first turn, three deep on the backstretch, stayed off the fence to the stretch, rallied and missed second. DAZZLE COMM sat off the pace in the three path, raced four deep on the backstretch, remained four wide through the far turn, tipped out into the lane and showed late effort to round out the superfecta. DESERT HAWK dropped back early in the three path, ridden along two wide on the far tur and finished evenly late. HALNINETHOUSAND stalked along the rail then began to pull into the backstretch, turned loose and went up to take over while dueling in the middle stages, fought head to head through the far turn, maintained a short lead into the final furlong and weakened. STAGE RUN unhurried two then three wide early, raced in the two path on the far turn and failed to menace. MAJOR MO took the first turn five wide in pursuit, angled in trailing on the backstretch, raced on the inside then in the two path on the far turn, moved out and was never a factor. FIRE CHIEF settled inside, got crowded and steadied approaching the five-sixteenths pole, driven along the rail into the stretch, had the rider lose the crop past the eighth pole and was never a factor. MANSA MUSA showed good early foot to take the early lead, lost command dueling on the backstretch, fought head to head on the far turn, battled back to the eighth pole, then weakened in the late stages.
