Footnotes
IMPOSSIBLE TASK vied three deep into the first turn then dueled into the backstretch, cleared inner rival at the five-eighths pole, kicked away under coaxing on the far turn, powered away in upper stretch and was ridden out to the wire. AMERICAN EMPIRE trailed on the inside, lacked room behind rivals on the far turn, stayed on the inside and obtained a clear path at the top of the stretch, tipped off the fence a bit midstretch and bested the rest. SEA DOG showed speed between rivals into the first turn, drifted out and had to take up around the bend, chased off the rail then outside a rival into the far turn, spun three wide into the stretch and flattened. BOBBY'S ALIBI settled next to the fence, coaxed along into the far turn, saved ground around that bend, moved out at the top of the stretch and lacked a rally. BEL RAGAZZO raced two to three wide outside a rival at the back on the clubhouse turn, angled out while picking up stride on the second bend, entered the lane four to five wide and passed tired rivals. HAVOC vied for command from inside, gave chased up the backstretch, asked right handed past the quarter pole, switched to the left hand entering the lane and faded. SUGAR BEETS sat off the pace three then two wide early, ridden along between into the far turn, came three wide into the stretch and was never a factor. CHIEF JACKSON chased four wide early on the first turn then got floated out by SEA DOG around the first turn, dropped back on the far turn, went three wide into the lane and had little left for the stretch run.
