Footnotes
CAISSON unhurried in the early going and placed along the rail, moved off the fence on the backstretch, gained two, three, then four wide on the far turn, challenged at the top of the lane, dueled outside GOLD FOOT in the final furlong and dug in late to edge the runner-up. GOLD FOOT was closest in pursuit two then three wide on the first turn, flanked the top pair from outside late on the backstretch, bid three deep leaving the approaching the stretch, seized control in upper stretch, fought with CAISSON in the late stages and yielded grudgingly. CATHAL (IRE) settled outside a rival, moved into range on the backstretch, crept closer on the far turn, waited two wide turning for home, tipped out and roused at the top of the stretch but finished evenly for the show. GRANDISIMO tucked inside at the back, eased out to the three path on the far turn, cut back inside at the top of the stretch and improved position. DRUIDIC settled along the rail, continued next to the fence into the far turn, moved over to the two path at the quarter pole, steered out for the stretch run and failed to threaten. WIZARD OF WESTWOOD stalked in the two path, between rivals in to the backstretch, angled in and challenged the leader at the seven-sixteenths pole, took a narrow lead entering the far turn, dueled around the bend, lost command at the quarter pole, fought to the top of the lane and gave way. MIDNITE MUSKET established the front quickly from inside, challenged by WIZARD OF WESTWOOD on the backstretch, lost the lead approaching the far turn, regained the lead with a quarter mile remaining, yielded in upper stretch and faded out of contention. PACER stalked from inside, dropped back a bit on the backstretch then crept closer into the far turn, ridden along the rail through the far turn, moved out in upper stretch and tired.
