Footnotes
FIERCENESS ducked in towards the temporary rail early, stalked from inside, went between rivals on the backstretch, split the leaders into the far turn and took over, kicked clear around the bend while in hand, given his cue in upper stretch, drifted while asked right-handed in the final furlong and remained clear to the wire. JOURNALISM bumped with inner rival leaving the gate, trailed off the inside in the early stages, drew closer up the backstretch, was on the move picking rivals through the far turn, chased within striking distance of FIERCENESS entering the final furlong but failed to summon the needed late kick and had to settle for second best. ULTIMATE GAMBLE chased two wide between rivals, three deep on the backstretch, asked around the far turn while angling to the inside and bested the rest. INDISPENSABLE bumped with JOURNALISM in the beginning, pulled between rivals first time through the stretch, chased three wide around the clubhouse turn, crept closer four deep on the backstretch, ridden along through the far turn, came four wide into the lane and weakened. LURE HIM IN chased the leaders outside a pair of rivals, challenged three deep on the backstretch and put a head in front at the half-mile pole, relinquished the lead to the winner early on the far turn, could not keep pace and chased three wide to the stretch, then tired down the lane. MIDNIGHT MAMMOTH showed speed inside TARANTINO, put a head in front on the first turn, lost command early on the backstretch, coaxed along when losing contact with the leaders at the half-mile pole, dropped back around the far turn and guided out wide, eased in the lane and walked off. TARANTINO sent to the front from outside, held a short lead over MIDNIGHT MAMMOTH to the clubhouse turn, lost command dueling around the bend, regained a short advantage early on the backstretch, was overtaken by LURE HIM IN at the half-mile pole, vied inside rivals entering the far turn, got put in tight shortly after by FIERCENESS and had to take up, faded around the bend, eased in the lane and walked off.
