FORMIDABLE MAN followed in range from the two path early, lost some ground on the inside in the middle stages, ridden along on the far turn while easing off the rail, took aim three wide coming into the lane, drew alongside the top pair with a furlong remaining, took the lead approaching the sixteenth pole and drove clear. ALMENDARES (GB) stalked the pacesetter from the rail, patiently handled around the far turn following behind CABO SPIRIT, was given his cue at the top of the lane and launched a bid from inside, battled with outer pair into deep stretch and could not match FORMIDABLE MAN late while edging CABO SPIRIT for second. CABO SPIRIT controlled the pace from inside in the opening stages, took pressure from ZIO JO leaving the backstretch, moved clear from that rival midway around the far turn, met the bid from ALMENDARES (GB) in upper stretch, fought between rivals to the sixteenth pole and weakened late. ZIO JO stumbled leaving the gate, stalked two wide in the early going, drew alongside CABO SPIRIT at the seven-sixteenths pole, lost touch with that rival past the five-sixteenths pole, chased two wide into the lane, stayed within striking distance to the eighth pole, then weakened in the furlong grounds. SUCHET (FR) got crowded a bit leaving the gate, pulled between rivals early then three wide on the clubhouse turn, trailed outside a rival in the middle stages, rounded the far turn two then three wide and had little left for the stretch run. KING OF GOSFORD (GB) tracked in the three path eraly, coaxed along two then three wide on the far turn and tired down the lane.
